Laptop is on it's way!

I can't believe it!  A local business has agreed to purchase a laptop (a MacBook Pro) for my classroom as well as all the adapters necessary to get my Apple TV up and running so I can wirelessly project the students iPad projects in my classroom.

I have been attending a lot of tech workshops this summer and can't wait to share and use the many resources I have learned about and intend on incorporating into my classroom this year!  Here are just a few I will be using:

  • Actively Learn--used to teach reading comprehension skills
  • Adobe Voice--used for fluency, oral assessments, student presentation
  • Google Classroom--attempting to go paperless; very similar to Edmodo
  • Zaption--video editor in which you can insert questions; another tool for building comprehension
  • Seesaw--used as a eportfolio
  • Epic--resource for listen to read books!  Great for Daily 5 station:  listen to reading
  • FrontRow--aligned with common core math standards; math practice for kids; teacher reports amazing!
It is going to be a great year!

Back into the classroom!

I just logged on and realized there are actually people reading my blog...and I have been so negligent in continuing to write.  I am so sorry.  It has been hard since I have not been in a classroom, but at you might suspect from the title I am back!  It has almost been a year and my use of technology has basically been non-existent.  I had big hopes and dreams this year, but found that learning my curriculum was overwhelming and I just didn't have the stamina this year to add technology integration to the list; however, I finally feel like I have my curriculum under control and my pallet is wet and ready to put in the hours to start next year off with a bang!

Here's what I have to work with:

  • 10 iPads
  • 3 desktops
  • my own laptop (when my spouse isn't using it)
  • a couple old digital cameras
  • cell phones (mine and my students--crazy how many 3rd graders have them)
  • a Promethean board that should work once a new cord arrives and we fix the only pen that came with it...long story
  • a computer lab that I don't have to fight for too much
All and in all, I am very please with what I have and looking forward to great things next year!  Here's to 2015-2016 school year!

Stay tuned....
